Support! @LAFashCouncil Goes to London

Have you heard of the Los Angeles Fashion Council? What... there is a Los Angeles Fashion Council, yup! There is now and guess who is involved...

Devon Poer and Kelsi Smith have united their skill sets to create the Los Angeles Fashion Council, the goal of which is to elevate and support Los Angeles fashion design through a unified council of key individuals within the industry. Our goal is to elevate and support Los Angeles fashion design through a unified council, providing a platform for presentation on a local, national and international level, as well as education, funding and support.

The Los Angeles Fashion Council is launching our first in a long line of programming today with London Calling. We aim to send five designers to London this coming February for a three day trade and salon style show. The purpose of which is to educate and inform the European market of the immense talent we are nurturing in Los Angeles.


Four talented Los Angeles based designers have been pre-selected to go to London; Mila Hermanovski, Bryan Hearns, Alana Hale and Curly V - the last spot will be filled through a Facebook contest launching today. The ten designers with the most votes will be judged by a panel of esteemed members of the Los Angeles fashion industry and one will be selected to join us in London alongside a $1000 grant. Designers can submit their work for the contest on our Facebook and fans can vote their favorite through January 10th.


In order to fund our project we have launched a Kickstarter page. Anyone can donate any amount to the cause - and donations greater than $25 receive rewards from limited edition sketches, reclaimed cashmere scarves by Mila Hermanovski, an Alana Hale dress, Bryan Hearns jewelry, new designs from Curly V and much more. Los Angeles Fashion Council was founded in October 2012 and will officially launch in January 2012 in a series of programming for designers, press, stylists and business owners. If you feel you have something to bring to our council we invite you to contact us.
